Apparently this young man in Likas, Kota Kinabalu had given up on life and decided to commit suicide just last week. According to NST, the 22-year-old man had attempted to cut off his tongue and jump off a building because he could not stand his parents’ nagging anymore.

The incident took place at around 11am when the unemployed man decided to take a 10-inch long kitchen knife to cut off his tongue. After doing so, the man who lived in a rented room in Alamesra, tried to jump off the second floor of the building through the window.

MStar reported that his cousin wrestled the sharp knife away from him and pulled him back from the window. He called for the ambulance immediately as the man was bleeding profusely due to the injuries on his tongue.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said, “It is learnt that the victim had been feeling depressed due to his parents, who always blamed him and bashed him for being (an) irresponsible (person). We have taken statement from the cousin, who said the victim had been behaving strange lately. It is learnt that the man was always depressed and would talk to himself. He also never shared his problems with the cousin even when asked.”
