7-Eleven is known as Malaysians’ favourite convenience store, especially because it is easily accessible with over 2,500 stores across the country. After launching 7CAFé, customers have been loving the brand’s selection of coffee and ready-to-eat food. Many have enjoyed frequenting their stores for a quick yet tasty breakfast too.

And speaking of 7CAFé, did you notice that the brand has levelled up the quality of their food and drinks? This is because 7-Eleven has proudly appointed a talented local chef, Chef Riza, as their Head Chef. Here’s how this skilled chef is spearheading 7-Eleven’s culinary division!

Meet Chef Riza, the master chef behind 7-Eleven’s new commissary!

Chef Riza embarked on his culinary journey when he graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). He’s been cooking up a storm for 19 years between local kitchens and across international borders, from fancy hotel joints to central kitchen operations.

Now, he’s thrilled to take on the role of Head Chef for 7-Eleven, aiming to offer Malaysians a variety of delicious and unique food and drink options through the new commissary. He also plans to diversify the menu with nutritious choices, so that even busy Malaysians can enjoy a satisfying meal on-the-go.

When discussing his vision for 7-Eleven’s new commissary, Chef Riza aims to incorporate more fresh and local ingredients such as bunga kantan to create ‘fusion’ menu options that highlight the uniqueness of Malaysian flavours.

Everything is made with the freshest ingredients from local suppliers

Speaking of local ingredients, Chef Riza also emphasised the importance of sourcing local and sustainable products to ensure high-quality end products. This will be made possible thanks to 7-Eleven’s long-term partnership with Malaysian producers and suppliers. This means that 7-Eleven has continuous access to locally sourced and fresh raw ingredients, making it easier for Chef Riza and his team to ensure the quality of the brand’s food and drink options.

Of course, working behind the scenes of such a huge production will come with a few challenges. One of Chef Riza’s main concerns is the food’s storage life. This is because the food needs to be chilled to preserve the freshness and extend the shelf life but this also means the quality could get compromised in the process.

Hence, Chef Riza is determined to tackle this problem by reviewing and monitoring the whole production process closely – from preparation to cooking and packaging. This way, he is able to identify any critical issues and rectify them immediately to ensure that 7-Eleven is always serving high-quality food that will satisfy the consumers.
