7-Eleven Malaysia’s Food Now Made Exclusively with Locally-Sourced Produce! Here’s Why It Matters

We’ve always been told that buying local produce is better. Not just to boost Malaysia’s economy but also to sapot local businesses (not to mention they’re fresher too ?).

And it looks like everyone’s favourite convenience store is now walking that talk, with 7-Eleven Malaysia announcing that they’ll be sourcing most of their raw ingredients from local producers. Here’s why!

The beginning of long & fruitful partnerships

7-Eleven Malaysia has formed long-term partnerships with around 160 local producers and suppliers, scattered throughout Klang Valley and the northern and southern regions. That way, they’ll have a continuous supply of essential raw ingredients to serve Malaysians, including rice, veggies, poultry, herbs and spices, baking goods, and packaging materials.

For illustration purposes only.

With this initiative, 7-Eleven hopes that they’ll not only contribute more to the local economy, but also reduce carbon emissions that typically come with transportation, create job opportunities, and bring local communities closer together. ?

Furthermore, it’s an initiative that 7-Eleven wants to last, having forged partnerships that’ll last for at least 15 years! Not to mention they’ll regularly collect feedback from suppliers to maintain high-quality products, as well as jointly develop new innovative products.

Keeping it fresh(er) at 7-Eleven’s new commissary

Speaking of raw ingredients, 7-Eleven Malaysia is going to level up their fresh food selection by launching their first commissary! With a wider (and more lip-smacking) variety of food offerings, Malaysians will soon have more choices to fill up their stomach with, such as sandwiches, onigiris and rice-based ready-to-eat meals.

Here are some of the food items you should definitely check out when the commissary opens:

• Spicy Lime Sardine

• Spicy Tuna Mayo

• Tuna Mayo Sandwich

Macam like got new breakfast spot wei! And these food offerings can be found in more than 700 outlets of 7CAFé and 7-Eleven across Peninsular Malaysia. Stay tuned to more rice-based ready-to-eat meal selections from 7-Eleven in the near future!

With the help of local producers supplying the freshest raw ingredients possible to create drool-worthy meals, 7-Eleven’s upcoming commissary is in good hands. ?
