With the ongoing inflation, many business operators see no choice but to increase the prices of their items. Those who can maintain lower prices, they continue to do so but as consumers, we have to keep in mind that sellers have families to feed too.

A chicken rice in Klang Valley typically costs around RM7 and if you’re lucky, you can still find those who sell the food for RM5. A chicken rice vendor in Kuala Besut, Terengganu has been maintaining its price at RM1.90 for 20 years now but with the current state, they had no choice but to increase the price.

The vendor is now selling its chicken rice at RM3 per portion and truthfully, it is still a lot cheaper than what you can get in Klang Valley. The portion? Look at the picture below and make your own judgment.

“Despite the increase, we take quality and quantity seriously. The portion of the rice and chicken are huge.”

Unfortunately, many customers are not happy with the increase of the price, and some even criticised the vendor for marking up the price.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the vendor, Suhaida said that when they just started increasing the price, some customers were not happy. Fortunately, many other customers understand her situation and continue to support their business – Kedai Nasi Ayam RM3 Kuala Besut.

Despite having questioned by competitors about the cheap price, Suhaida continues to focus on her work and said,

“Our intention is just to help and share with others,” she said.

Suhaida, who is still a student also told WORLD OF BUZZ that the business is being run by her parents, and she would merely help during semester breaks. In her latest TikTok post last night (July 20), Suhaida revealed that despite the increase in price, business is still booming.

“120 chickens were sold out and we had to close early.”

We wish we can get a chicken rice with that price too in Klang Valley!
