An employer that treats you like family is rare, but one that helps you even after your death is truly a gem.
An employer in China continues to pay a deceased staff a salary of RMB 800 (approximately RM520), which goes to his widow and the family. The employer, Wang Feng, has been paying the amount to the family for 3 years now, after the death of the employee back in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic.
The amount may not be much, but Wang said it’s enough for them to get the basic necessities in life.
Wang does that so that the family, who has a financial crisis can survive. But just how long will Wang continue supporting the family of her deceased employee?
According to CNNB, Wang will only stop supporting the family financially after the 2 children graduate from college, which is years from now as the children are in primary and high school, respectively.
The family also includes the widow’s 80-year-old grandmother, who is ill. What actually happened to Chen, the deceased husband of the widow?
In May 2022, Chen collapsed in the bathroom when he was showering. He was immediately sent to the ICU after the doctor found a blood clot in his brain. 9 days later and unfortunately, he did not make it. Since then, his family lost the main support, and Wang immediately “climbed aboard” to support the family financially, until today.
Chen is family
Sin Chew also reported that Wang said that her business suffered a major loss during the peak of the pandemic, but that did not deter her will to “pay” the mourning family to support them. Speaking to the Chinese media, Chen’s brother said that his nieces (Chen’s daughters) are performing well academically.
“Wang Feng is truly a kind soul,” he said.
Wang also said that she grew up in a village, and she can understand the situation of Chen’s family well.
“I hope my efforts will help them to have a better life which they deserved,” Wang said.
To quote Chen’s brother, Wang is truly a gem and a kind soul. It’s a one-in-a-million kind of situation where an employer will go the extra mile to care for her employee. We wish nothing but the best for Chen’s family.
