Bad news, Disney fans. It looks like we might need to wait a little longer to see the highly anticipated “Beauty And The Beast” movie!

Malaysians were highly anticipating the new iconic Disney movie remake since its first trailer was released. Not to mention the fact that Emma Watson is starring in this film.

In light of the recent controversy surrounding Disney’s first openly gay character in the upcoming “Beauty And The Beast” live action movie, the release date for the film has been postponed to a later date.

The official reason behind the delay is due to an “internal review”, as stated in an e-mail by The Walt Disney Co. (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, reported The Star Online

Sadly, there was no indication of a new release date, as that was all the information that was given in the statement.

The “Beauty And The Beast” live action remake garnered a lot of controversy surrounding one of its characters, Le Fou, played by Josh Gad, as he is officially the first openly homosexual Disney character. Director Bill Condon stated Le Fou would have an “exclusively gay moment” in the film.

The film has been openly condemned by American evangelist Christian, Franklin Graham, who called for a boycott of the movie. Aside from that, a Russian lawmaker also asked the government to ban the film, calling it “a blatant, shameless propaganda of sin and perverted sexual relationships.”
