With the pandemic and the flood crisis still ongoing, times are undeniably tough. A lot of people give their best in helping the needy but unfortunately, some of the receivers are allegedly being particular about what they are getting.
In response to these “demands”, a netizen, Meera, has something to say about it.
Recently, she took to her TikTok account to share her take on these incidents where some Muslim receivers are reportedly refusing to accept food donations from non-Muslims.
“At the state of emergency, are you still asking about halal and haram? Do you know how tired those volunteers are? They personally prepared and distributed the food to you just to make sure you survive!” she emphasised.
Meera added that as Malaysians, people would definitely understand the halal and haram when it comes to food. She also explained that the recent break-in at a Mydin outlet in Shah Alam was also due to the state of emergency that some of us are trapped in right now.
“Is the act of breaking in halal (permitted)? Look at how many men and women out there being physically intimate without being married, is that permitted? You didn’t even call them out!”
Meera, who is a businesswoman, urged everyone to respect the people who are helping, especially during tough times like these when people with different races and backgrounds are lending a hand. In the meantime, she revealed that she has a friend, who has a heart condition and yet she is still doing her best to help the flood victims to the extent that she forgot to take her medicine.
“Can you please appreciate their efforts and stop insulting them?”

People are aware of the halal and haram
At the time of writing, her video has gained more than 810,000 views and more than 76,000 likes. Of course, the netizens also expressed their take on this.
“In the state of emergency, we even have to save the dogs as they are also God’s creatures.”
“Anything can be eaten during the state of emergency, for survival. The non-Muslims are also aware of what the Muslims cannot consume.”
“Trust us as much as you trust your Muslim friends, we non-Muslims are also very sensitive when it comes to preparing your food because we respect your religion, just like what we were taught in school.”
At times where survival is the utmost priority, we are truly flattered that Malaysians are helping each other out!
