For those who have taken a flight from KLIA, you would know that the Aerotrain is indispensable to getting from the main terminal to the satellite terminal.
However, this Aerotrain service has been discontinued as there were several instances where it malfunctioned. Currently, there is a shuttle bus that ferries passengers to and fro the terminals.
Taking to Facebook, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has shared the progress for KLIA’s new Aerotrains.
In a minute-long video, he mentions that he went on a recent trip to Wuhu, China to check on the progress of the Aerotrains.
We can see from the video that the first set of trains (with 3 coaches) is almost ready to which the minister says that it is “almost 90% done”.
The train has the same layout as the previous trains but several seats were added for the elderly and those who have mobility issues. The windows were also made bigger so that they would be brighter.
The caption of the video also mentions that the trains can be sent to Malaysia by next year. In order to facilitate this process and resume the Aerotrain services, Anthony Loke urges MAHB to quickly solve the issues with the contract.
Well, this is certainly good news. We hope that the Aerotrain will be back soon!
