Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has admitted that he is fatigued after leading the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, reported Sinar Harian.

“I’m not the only one tired, all of us are tired,” he said.

On top of leading the fight against the outbreak, Dr Noor Hisham also holds press conferences every day at the Ministry of Health (MOH) headquarters to inform the public about the Covid-19 situation and its progress.

He added that the MOH has been prepared for the outbreak ever since the first case was detected in Wuhan, China last December and has been working hard ever since to prevent the virus from spreading even further.

“For seven months we have been working hard to prevent this spread,” he said, adding that the MOH has to work hard for another four months.

“A total of 250,000 teams of health workers will probably return to work for 20 hours a day if there is an increase in cases,” he said at a press conference.

Dr Hisham also explained that the government would have no choice but to implement the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) again to break the chain of infection if there is a spike in cases again.

“If the infection is contagious in the community and not controlled, we will be in trouble and may return to the MCO or CMCO,” he said.

He then reminds the community to abide by the standard operating procedures (SOP) during the Hari Raya Aidiladha.

He said this to comment on the actions of supporters of Najib Razak who failed to practise social distancing when they gathered at the Duta Court Complex on 28 July, reported Utusan Malaysia.

He also expressed concern and frustration in his personal Twitter saying, “It is clear that every day, the Ministry of Health reminds Malaysians to abide by the standard operating procedures and practise safe distancing of at least one meter, wearing a face mask and washing hands frequently.”

“It is sad to see that in such a situation there is no self-control.”

Dr Noor Hisham added that if there is a case from the rally, then the move to identify close contacts will be implemented immediately.
