As Malaysians, we’ve all imagined what it would be like to travel across Peninsular Malaysia within a designated time period, even a single day perhaps! However, one Malaysian man recently did just that by way of the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM), and shared just how that journey was for him.

Conveying how he did it, Malaysian content creator Vishnu posted a clip of his travels to his TikTok page @vishnuwalk.

Beginning his journey, Vishnu stated that he purchased his train ticket using the designated KTM application on his phone, saving himself a tonne of time in the process. Sharing his route, Vishnu stated that his intention was to travel from Ipoh to Johor, stopping at Gemas, Negeri Sembilan in the process. However, he initially faced a snag after discovering that a direct ticket from Ipoh to Gemas was sold out.

Taking himself on an adventure, Vishnu then laid out his alternative route, which was by taking the KTM from Ipoh to KL Sentral, then from KL Sentral to Gemas, and finally from Gemas to Johor Bahru Sentral.

Starting at around 8.00am, Vishnu revealed that his first train ride to KL Sentral from Ipoh only took him about two and a half hours, costing him RM51. After arriving, the content creator stopped to have a drink and spend some leisurely time around the city, as he had a two hour interval between his arrival and the time for his next train.

At 12.20pm, Vishnu then boarded his second train to Gemas, which also took him about two and a half hours, totalling his expenditure for this route to just RM30. Praising the facilities provided in the KTM he was on, Vishnu stated that he had a comfortable trip, as the seats were wide and the bathroom was clean.

After arriving to Gemas, Vishnu also praised the convenience of the layout within the station, as his next train to head towards Johor Bahru Sentral was on the platform opposite of the one he exited from Gemas.

“It was super easy! From Gemas to JB Central, it took me about four and a half hours, and cost me only RM21,” said Vishnu in his TikTok video.

Getting hungry along the way, Vishnu also stated that the presence of a café in one of the compartments of the train allowed him to buy a sandwich and kick back to enjoy the views of his surroundings.

“In total, I spent just RM102, and it took me about nine hours to get from Ipoh to Johor,” said Vishnu at at the end of his video.

Receiving praise online from multiple Malaysians, a few users applauded Vishnu for creating this content, as it would be helpful to others who may have been seeking out similar adventures. Others also commented on how beautiful the scenery was during his train ride.
