Parks in residential areas are meant to be used by the public and as long as everyone does their due diligence to keep the place clean, it shouldn’t be a problem.

A park at a Cheras residential area recently had been ‘invaded’ by a group of foreigners who found shelter at the place by making themselves at home. In a video that has been circulating on social media, a setting that is usually meant to be a playground for the children and a place for adults to sit down for a chat was turned into a makeshift residence.

Clothes were hung on the benches at the park. It was a haven for them.

The foreigners had turned one of the gazebos in the park into their home sweet home, and some were also seen bringing mattresses into the place, which prompted the residents to believe that the foreigners were sleeping at the park every night. This has caused concerns and dissatisfaction among the residents, who were not happy about the lack of hygiene aspects since the “emergence” of the groups.

The person who recorded the video also found broken glass bottles in the area, which can be dangerous to people who use the area, especially children.

During the confrontation, one of the people from the group, who said that he was from Myanmar, apologised for the inconvenience and immediately cleaned the area. Their safe haven was no more. You can watch the full clip below.

To those staying in Cheras or anywhere around Klang Valley, are you witnessing the same situation?
