If you frequently drive or take public transportation in and around Kuala Lumpur, you’ll definitely notice a few billboards advertising products that don’t exist anymore or promoting events that have long ended.

1 of the most apparent instances of this has got to be the huge posters on the wall of the Merdeka MRT station platform advertising the 2020 live-action Disney film Mulan.Β

The public complained about the outdated movie poster that has been on the MRT station wall for 4 years

Well, 4-long years after the movie finished showing in cinemas, the MRT station’s management finally took down the posters after its outdated existence was made viral in a social media post.

In a post by @RakyatAduan X (formerly Twitter) account on the platform, the outdated Mulan live-action film poster was brought to the attention of the public, with the account also tagging the @MRTMalaysia and @askrapidkl official X accounts for clarification.

In the post on 1 July, @RakyatAduanΒ stressed that the old movie poster still being there meant that the station had lost 4 years of potential revenue from advertising that could have been used to improve facilities.

Following the post going viral with 1 million views and more than 5,300 likes as of the time of writing, @askrapidkl swiftly replied and assured that the asset owner would remove the outdated posters at MRT stations in stages.

Old movie posters at MRT stations were finally removed, including a poster for a 2021 film at Bukit Bintang MRT station

Indeed, @askrapidkl was true to their words as just 5 days after the X post, Malaysians online spotted the Mulan live-action film poster finally being taken down.

X user @xatyrosdi shared a video and a photo of the poster being taken down at the Merdeka MRT station.

Furthermore, @xatyrosdiΒ also reposted a photo of another outdated movie poster being recently removed from an MRT station.

This time, the station in question is the Bukit Bintang MRT station, while the poster is for the 2021 film Spiderman: No Way Home.
