Johor MB: Glow-in-The-Dark Markings Will be Used at 31 Roads in The State

Previously, we shared how the Sungai Masai Bridge in Masai became the first place in Johor to utilise glow-in-the-dark road markings.

Now, the Johor Government has announced the expansion of the innovative markings to other roads in the state: 31 roads to be exact.

As reported by BERNAMA, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced that the 31 roads were identified as part of pilot projects for using the new technology originating from France to improve the quality of driving, especially on routes requiring lighting.

The first to get the glow-in-the-dark road markings after Sungai Masai Bridge is Jalan Simpang Renggam – Jalan Renggam.

Apart from that, solar lights and flashing warning lights (amber) at the corners which require lighting,

The Johor Menteri Besar asserted, “We have discussed with the state Public Works Department (PWD), and 31 roads have been selected as pilot project locations. This is a start for us to study the effectiveness of this technology for use in Johor.”

“We will obtain user feedback through social media, and if it is effective, we will expand it to other areas. It is understood that there are about 80 areas which need this type of lighting,”

Besides that, Onn Hafiz also announced that an additional RM1 million will be allocated by the Johor Government to improve road infrastructure facilities in the state further.

Moreover, the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development has also allocated RM5.5 million for 2,230 units of street lights to be installed in Johor this year.
