A football field needs to have a proper, functioning drainage system, especially with the monsoon season taking place. This is to prevent floods from happening or have the match affected by the water puddle on the field after heavy rain.

The Crown Prince of Johor, TMJ recently shared a few pictures of Stadium Sultan Ibrahim in Gelang Patah, Johor, showing the quality of the field and said,

“No water puddle. Top drainage!”

The pictures were shared for a reason, and to ensure smooth football matches in the future, especially those that are scheduled in the monsoon season, TMJ has a reminder to the Malaysian Football League (MFL) and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

“We’re not playing football at the paddy fields”

In his post, TMJ told the relevant parties that it’s high time for them to up their games and fix, or improve the stadiums in their respective states, especially the drainage system to prevent floods, or water puddles which will affect the quality of the match.

TMJ does not wish to see the stadium turning into paddy fields for the football players.

“Are we going to play in the paddy fields at the other stadiums?” TMJ rhetorically remarked.

Despite the condition of the field at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil in KL after Coldplay’s show, the recent football match was a success and fans saw the Johor Darul Ta’azim Football Club leaving as the champion after beating the Terengganu FC.

In the meantime, netizens were also happy to see TMJ giving a much-needed reminder to the relevant parties, and they were all on board with TMJ on 1 thing – the stadiums in Malaysia should be upgraded before the next football match.

“You’re the real expert in the football stadiums.”

“It’s good that some teams upgrade the field for the comfort of the players but others merely abandon their responsibilities, to the extent of causing injuries to the players. How long do we need to maintain such a standard for our country’s soccer?”

Dear football enthusiasts, what do you think of the stadium that you have visited? What kind of improvements do you think needs to be done ASAP?
