It never feels good to lose your valuable items, especially when you spend a lot of money to buy them. Just recently, a Malaysian customer realised his AirPods were gone after having dinner at a seafood restaurant in JB.

The search, however, was not fruitful and the customer believes that one of the restaurant workers has stolen the earpiece. Here’s what happened, according to a Facebook post by the restaurant owner.

The restaurant owner asked his staff to search for the earpiece and they even went to the extent of “unboxing” the garbage bags and trash bins, going through the leftovers to look for the missing AirPods. Truthfully, that was mighty generous of the workers.

“We understand what it feels like to lose something, so we tried our best,” the ower said.

The customer also showed his appreciation by promising to give them tips when his item is retrieved. Unfortunately, things took a bad turn when one of the workers checked the CCTV footage in the hopes of tracing the lost AirPods. The worker, who was not familiar with the computer accidentally deleted parts of the CCTV footage.

The customer also shared a screenshot of his AirPods’ location, which showed the address of a shoplot. He suspected the address was the location of the worker’s hostel, which the restaurant owner had denied.

The customer: You haven’t answered me if your workers are staying here. If this is how you handle this matter, I might as well find someone else who could give me a straightforward answer.

The restaurant owner: None of my workers are staying in this address, and none of them are staying in a hostel. This is an image of the given address.

The restaurant owner had no choice but to tell the customer the truth – parts of the CCTV footage were accidentally deleted, and there was no way they could help him further. Refusing to believe this was a coincidence, the customer claimed that one of the workers was responsible for the loss.

Despite his explanation, the restaurant owner failed to convince the customer that the workers were not responsible for the loss.

“You may lodge a police report if you want, and we’ll let the police handle the matter. If you’re defaming us for a theft that we did not commit, we will also take legal actions.”

We hope that both parties can come to a resolution for this matter.
