A Singaporean company, Pollisum Engineering Pte Ltd, recently held their company dinner titled ‘Go Big or Go Home’.

And go big they did as they overshadowed most company dinners by holding a Squid Game-like competition among their employees and they made one of them very, VERY happy.

Taking to their Facebook page, they showcased an Indian migrant worker who had won the grand prize of SGD18,888 (RM64,441) from their Squid Game contest, causing the worker to fall to his knees in utter joy.

Squid Game 1

They wrote, “Congratulations to the lucky winner of our grand prize, SG$18,888! We are happy to announce that Selvem has emerged as the lucky winner of this amazing reward.”

According to a report by The Straits Times, Selvem had never heard of the popular Korean TV show and watched his fellow contestants as references of what to do during the games. And he ended up prevailing!

“When I found out that I had won, I couldn’t believe it. I called my entire family to tell them about this good news.”

“My wife thought it was a joke at first until (my friend) spoke to her. All of them were celebrating and crying at the same time. This will be a moment that we will never forget for our entire lives,” he said.

Squid Game 2

He has since shared that he will be using the money to build a family home back in India, where he has 15 family members relying on his income.

His parents and 2 brothers have passed away, hence he takes care of his brothers’ widowed wives as well as their 7 children and in laws.

He will also be using the money to pay for his nephews’ and nieces’ educations.
