Udon is one of the staples of Japanese cuisine, with the thick wheat flour noodle being used in a variety of dishes and served in many different ways.

However, for this one particular customer of a restaurant in Japan, he got a rather ‘special’ udon from the eatery after finding a live frog at the bottom of his takeaway meal.

Worse, he had almost finished the whole takeaway udon before realising that a little green friend was inside the udon all along.

The man, nicknamed Kaito, took to Twitter to share a photo and video of the takeaway udon in question.

In the photo, you can see the green frog’s body as it is loitering inside the broth of the takeaway udon.

The frog is even more apparent in the video, as you can see it is moving its leg around, with Kaito also using a chopstick to move the amphibious creature around.

In the tweet, Kaito said that he found the frog after almost finishing the takeaway dish from the restaurant, known as the Marugame Seimen’s Spicy Dandan Salad Udon.

He added that he got the cup of udon while on a business trip and advised others to “be careful” with meals from the eatery.

Kaito also shared that the outlet “reopened the same night after being closed for 3 hours” and is “still selling the same product” as the one he bought with a frog in it.

The next day, the eatery, Marugame Seimen issued an apology on its website to the customer for “causing great trouble and worry”.

The noodle chain explained that the frog was likely to have ended up in the takeaway udon during the processing at their vegetable-processing factory.

Marugame Seimen further assured that it has conducted and strengthened on-site inspections at every factory handling raw vegetables.
