University life could be super hectic and busy that most students don’t have time to socialise. Well, these colleges in China seek to change that and are giving students one week off to find love!

As reported by Insider, nine vocational colleges in China have announced that their students would get a break from today until 7 April 2023 to go forth and find love. The colleges, which are run by the Fan Mei Education Group said that they implemented a spring break system and hope that students can learn to love nature, love life and enjoy love.

All of the participating colleges are vocational schools for jobs in the aviation industry. These include pilots, flight attendants, air traffic controllers and security staff. Moreover, the colleges have been giving a week off during spring since 2019 but this year’s theme gives a special emphasis on romance.

Coincidentally, this move was made during a time when the Chinese government is pushing its citizens to bolster the rapidly declining birth and marriage rates. According to Liu Ping, the deputy dean of one of the colleges, the spring break programme was made in response to feedback from students who want a fixed time to make new friends, learn outside of campus and “experience the beauty of love”.

However, students are still assigned homework during spring break. These include writing travel diaries, reporting on their own growth, making handicrafts or filming videos of their travels.

So, what do you guys think of the one-week break given by these colleges to students to find love? Should colleges in Malaysia follow suit? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
