It’s always flattering to know how foreigners enjoy being in our country after spending some time here. As for a tourist from China recently, she had nothing but fond words to say about our country, as well as the people here.

On the Chinese social media platform Xiao Hong Shu, the woman said that she has been in Malaysia for only a few days but it was enough to let her feel the warmth that she has received from many Malaysians.

“I’ve met so many Malaysians and they’re all friendly. They love to chit chat.”

However, there is something else that the tourist felt from the friendly Malaysians.

“I could feel that they love China too!”

The woman took the opportunity to pose for a picture at one of Malaysia’s iconic landmarks, KLCC, where she had the opportunity to speak to some Malaysians.

Yesterday (March 21), the woman revealed that she was headed back to Hangzhou, China and before she boarded the flight, she took some time to shop at the airport.

She also had some time to shop at Singapore airport before changing her flight.

“Yes we’re friendly but…”

While many Malaysians are flattered that she enjoyed her time in Malaysia, some of them were quick to deny their love towards another country in a polite manner.

“We do appreciate the Chinese culture, but to the extent of loving China? I don’t think so.”

“Yes, we Malaysians are friendly but not to the extent of loving China. We have our own country, why would we love another country?”

“No, we don’t. We’re just friendly.”

Another netizen took the opportunity to express his love for China after his experience of visiting the country.

“Welcome to  Malaysia! I enjoyed my time in China, and I’ll definitely go there if I have the chance.”

“I like China, but I still love Malaysia.”

“I think you’re trying to say that Malaysians are friendly toward tourists from China. Love China? I don’t think we’re there yet.”

If you’ve traveled abroad many times, it’s perfectly common to fall in love with the culture and the mesmerising views of the tourist spots. We can never deny our love towards our homeland – Malaysia regardless of where we go.

Regardless, it’s always flattering to know that from the perspective of a foreigner, we’re the friendly ones!
