At least 24 lives were claimed in the Batang Kali landslide, and 9 more victims have yet to be found at the time of writing. The news has shocked the nation and broken the hearts of many Malaysians, especially the family members of the victims.

While the Prime Minister and other relevant ministers are doing their parts for the victims, the campsite, Father’s Organic Farm (FOF) is also doing what they can to express sympathy to the victims and family members of the deceased during this tough time. The Facebook profile of Father’s Organic Farm has been changed to black to mourn for the victims, and the organisation also has a message to the people.

“Disasters are faceless, love is with us”

In a short statement that was released yesterday (December 18), FOF prays for the recovery of the injured victims and the survivors and reminded them to continue to take care.

“Our hearts are closely connected with you, may the deceased rest in peace, heartfelt and deepest condolences to the families.”

As the rescue work involves many manpower from the PDRM, fire department, and other organisations, FOF also paid a tribute to all parties involved in the rescue.

“Once again, we humbly bow to everyone affected by this tragedy,” FOF said.

Unavoidable natural disaster, or the farm’s negligence?

The comment section has since been turned off, but a few Malaysians had the opportunity to express what they felt about the tragedy. Some believed that the disaster is a natural occurrence that nobody predicted and wanted, while others want justice for the victims and said FOF should play a part in it.

“To the deceased, rest in peace. My condolences to the family members of the victims.”

“It’s a natural disaster, and it’s unpredictable.”

“Nobody wanted this disaster to happen. The management of FOF didn’t want this to happen either.”

“Rest in peace. This disaster has taken many lives. The management, more or less, HAS to pay for their negligence and be responsible.”

“I don’t think there’s any way out for you.”

A netizen suggested what FOF can do after the rescue mission is over.

What do you think of FOF’s action in expressing their sympathy to the victims? Do you think nature is simply running its course, or do you think the organic farm has to be responsible for allowing the victims to set up camps there?
