The High Court has ordered the government and 3 other parties to pay damages amounting to RM5 million to the family of deceased Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu, for her death in 2006.

According to a report by Berita Harian, Judge Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera made the decision during today’s (December 16) online proceedings after finding that Altantuya’s family had successfully proven their claims in the balance of probabilities against the government, political analyst Razak Baginda and 2 former policemen, Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri.

Altantuya’s father, Shaariibuu Setev and his wife, Alatantsetseg Sanjaa, as well as Altantuya’s son, Mungunshagai filed a suit against them, alleging a conspiracy in her murder.

The model was killed in 2006 in a forest in Puncak Alam, with a single shot to the head before her body was blown up using explosives.

Azilah and Sirul were found guilty and were sentenced to death for the murder.

Razak on the other hand, who was an aide to the then deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, was accused of conspiring with the 2 former police officers, but was later released without being called for defence.

Stay tuned for more updates.
