RM30 MILLION Allocated To Buy Bodycams For PDRM, IGP Says It Will Boost Integrity Among Officers

Yesterday (December 13), the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) informed that the government is in the process of obtaining body cameras for the use of PDRM officers.

Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail explained that the acquisition of the body cameras involve a cost of RM30 million, which has been approved by the Ministry of Finance.

According to a report by Berita Harian, Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani shared that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) welcomes the move and that the use of the body cameras while duty will increase the integrity of police officers.

The cameras will be supplied to the Motor Patrol Unit (URB) and to members of the Patrol Car Unit (MPV) for enforcement purposes.

“The use of the body cameras will not only strengthen the level of integrity but will also increase professionalism and transparency when duties are being carried out. In addition to this, it protects the interests of all parties, especially the police officers and the community,” he said.

He also shared that the body cameras will be utilised as best as possible in PDRM’s efforts to ensure they deliver the best quality of service to the community.
