Taking place in Bangi, Selangor, an unassuming motorcyclist became a victim of a hit-and-run accident when an Axia driver made the decision to stop mid-traffic to buy himself some mangga jeruk asam boi or pickled mangoes that were being sold by a street peddler. In a video of the incident, which has since made its rounds on social media, a blue Axia can be seen stopping in the middle of the road, causing a Nissan X-Trail behind it to swerve to the left, hitting the aforementioned motorcyclist in the process.

Check out the full video of the incident below:

Shockingly, following the accident, both the Axia and X-trail drivers simply drove away, leaving the motorcyclist sprawled on the ground. Thankfully, the street peddler and a postman who was at the scene helped the poor victim and pulled him out of harm’s way.

Netizens commenting on the video condemned both the X-Trail and Axia drivers for first, failing to follow traffic laws and secondly, for not having the empathy to help the victim. Others also blamed the street peddler for endangering road users at the road, which is actually illegal by our country’s law.

“Please do not normalise the act of buying anything from street peddlers like this.”

“So long as people keep buying, they will not stop.”

2 002

“This is the very reason why authorities prohibit street peddlers from doing their business at traffic stops.”
