The recent price hike on vegetables and goods is definitely frustrating most Malaysians. In response to this, Malaysia’s prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the price of goods will stabilise at the beginning of next year, once more countries reopen their economic sectors.

He added that the movement restrictions were experienced by countries that export food to Malaysia, hence consequencing to the food supply shortage.

“We breed chicken, but the chicken feed comes from abroad, just like fertilisers and pesticides. I believe this situation will improve when the concerned countries open their economic sectors and production will return to normal,” said the prime minister.

“Insya-Allah, by early next year, we expect the price of goods to be stable again,” he said in a speech for a circumcision program, as reported by BERNAMA.

Besides, he also added that Jakim’s halal SOP is strict, thus the people need not worry about the halal status of the chicken imported from China and Thailand. Cooperatives nationwide are also said to play a crucial role in reducing the burden of people, as they can supply big bulks of goods at cheaper prices, enabling cheaper product prices for the people.
