But a reminder to all that you should NOT be sharing photos of your boarding passes!

People love showing off the boarding pass as it contains their name, date, time, flight number, seat number, etc. And of course, the most important part, your destination.

However, according to Elite Readers, the boarding pass contains more information than just what the eyes can read.

Forensic expert Winston Krone explained to the press that the bar code alone holds a bunch of vital information such as our home address, email address and contact number.

Exposing the bar code online would mean you are exposing all your personal information for possible hackers to steal.

Using a simple scanner would allow them to easily find out more about you. It doesn’t even have to be a special machine or anything as anyone can download a QR code scanning app to find everything they want to know.

Hence, using your personal info to their advantage.

Not only should you refrain from posting pictures of those tickets online, you also should not simply throw it away!

These bar codes can be detected even AFTER your flight is over. If you were to throw it away and anyone found it, the information is still available.

The best advice is to keep all your boarding passes, tear them into pieces, or burn them.
