Living in Malaysia, the feel of hitting a pothole while driving or riding can be described as frustration mixed with a feeling of being at home.

Many people have hit potholes and gotten into accidents, many other people have tried various ways to get the authorities to fix the potholes while some just gave up and fixed it themselves.

KJ (Khairy Jamaluddin) is now no longer a stranger to getting into an accident after hitting a pothole.

On the morning of 27 December, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation went cycling in Ulu Langat where he met with an unfortunate accident. He had hit the pothole while cycling and it caused him to fall from his bike. He confirmed the accident in a tweet.

KJ’s press secretary confirmed that he had suffered only minor injuries and he’s “a little bruised up but all is good.”

More than 5 hours later, the Kuala Langat roadworks department had tweeted out an apology to the minister:

“The Kuala Langat roadworks department apologizes profusely for the accident that befell YB. The department will take action immediately on this issue and we pray that YB will recover soon.”

After seeing the reply, many netizens were very dissatisfied. Some said that they had gotten into many accidents before involving potholes and have lodged multiple complaints. However, the pothole was never repaired and their complaints were ignored. They compared their own experience to KJ’s where the roadworks department replied to him and has promised to tackle the issue ASAP.

Many other netizens called for JKR to step up their game and to do proper maintenance on roads in the whole nation.
