If karma is truly real, us humans are in for an unpleasant treat as we may soon be living with the same sea creatures we poison and choke every day with our waste and our inability to properly dispose of plastic and trash.

Why?

Because a 9-day heat wave hit Antarctica’s most northern tip early in February, which melted up to 20% of the snow covering the Antarctic island of Eagle Island, as according to information from CNN as well as images from NASA.

The images highlight the alarming changes throughout the heat wave which last from the 4th of February, 2020 to the 13th of February, 2020. By the end of the heat wave, massive pools of meltwater formed on the surface of the island, with the land beneath the snow starting to show, which is becoming a frequent sign of climate crisis.

“I haven’t seen melt ponds develop this quickly in Antarctica,” Mauri Pelto told NASA, a geologist at Nichols College in Massachusetts.

“You see these kinds of melt events in Alaska and Greenland, but not usually in Antarctica.”

This is simply because Antarctica is supposed to be one of the coldest places on earth, though the continent has since recorded its hottest day in February, hitting 64.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

Antarctic ice caps have been melting rapidly as a result of human’s heat-trapping gas pollution. The consequences of this may lead to the devastation of millions of people living along the world’s coastline as the ice sheets of Antarctica is made up of enough water to globally raise sea levels by 200 feet.

Pelto added that this heat wave was the result of sustained temperatures, which almost never occurred on the continent until the 21st century.

It is our presence and interference that is causing mother nature to melt away into a catastrophe that may lead us all to end up swimming with the fishes.

Do we still have time to reverse the wrong?
