The South Korean Covid-19 spike shocked everyone when news of it came out. The transmission of the disease doesn’t seem to be stopping soon which is extra worrying.

So to make sure that  Malaysian citizens are safe, the Health Ministry has issued a temporary ban for all South Korean nationals. The temporary ban also includes anyone who has passed through Daegu City and Cheongdo district 14 days before arriving in Malaysia. The ban also affects those who transit through Malaysia, according to NST.

The Health Director-General Datuk Noor Hisham Abdullah said,

“Malaysians, permanent residents and pass holders (long term social visit pass and students pass) who were in Daegu and Cheongdo district for a 14-day period prior to their arrival in Malaysia must undergo a health screening by the Malaysian Health Ministry.”

The total number of cases in South Korea as of the time of writing is 2,337 with 13 deaths. We urge everyone to be hygienic in this time of turmoil. Also, if you have travelled overseas recently then it is better to quarantine yourself at home for 14 days just to be safe.
