The police in Malaysia are a hardworking bunch as they are always at attention to solve crimes on top of keeping the peace and enforcing the law in our beloved country. One of the ways they do so is by conducting roadblocks at random places and times so that they can catch any would-be offenders unaware.

However, we can’t help but do these funny things whenever we encounter a roadblock, even though we are all law-abiding citizens. Right?? Read on and find out how many of these you’ve actually done!

1. Immediately feeling guilty although you didn’t do anything wrong

You obeyed all the speed limits and everything is in order but somehow you’re just a little bit afraid that you may have missed something!

2. So, you get scared that the police will pull you over

When it’s your turn to face the abang police, your heart beats a little faster. Keep calm, they are just doing their job!

3. Freaking out about possibly forgetting to bring your driver’s license

You go through an internal monologue such as this: “It’s in my purse, right? Wait, did I take it out when I changed my bag this morning? Oh no, I can’t remember!”

4. Quickly checking the expiry date of your road tax and driving license

Things you’ll ask yourself: “When was the last time I renewed it?” and “It’s not the due date yet, right?” These questions will all run through your mind as you reach the roadblock.

5. Looking around to see if there’s anything suspicious in your car

Even though you know your car is perfectly fine and there are no contrabands, you don’t want to arouse any suspicions! Oh, and you also check to make sure your seat belt is securely fastened even though you know you’ve already buckled up.

6. Putting on an innocent face

You immediately put on your most angelic-looking face and sit up straight when passing the roadblock. #macamyes

7. Instantly becoming the most polite human being ever

You mentally prep yourself to answer when the officer inevitably asks you, “Dari mana? Pergi mana?” Make sure to answer politely and with a friendly smile because we should always show respect to our hardworking police officers. 😉

8. Switching on your car’s interior lights

You know you have nothing to hide, so when you roll down the window you considerately switch on the interior lights too so that they can see how perfectly innocent you are! I’ve got nothing to hide!

9. Trying to get your drunk friends to look sober

Being the designated driver can be a pain sometimes but hey, somebody’s got to do it! However, when you are the only sober one in the car you can’t help but panic a little (okay, a lot) when you pass a roadblock. So, you quickly nudge them awake and ask them to act normal when going past the police. Remember, don’t drink and drive kids!
