Violence is never an answer to your problems!

A 31-year-old man had lent his girlfriend’s father RM30,000 two years ago in 2017. Now in 2019, he decided that he wanted to have a friendly discussion with his future father-in-law about the money he had borrowed.

So, on 19th June at 6.25pm, he headed to the 52-year-old man’s house on Jalan Pahlwan with his 28-year-old girlfriend, planning to ask the man to repay the debt, reported The Star.

However, according to Sibu OCPD, Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, the man did not respond to their phone calls before they arrived.

“The complainant came to meet the suspect to discuss in a friendly manner the RM30,000 which the older man had borrowed from him in 2017,” he said.

“Prior to arriving at the house, the complainant called him on the phone, but there was no response.”

Upon reaching the house, he and his girlfriend had gone into the living room when the man suddenly showed up with a machete (a kind of knife). Out of anger, he slashed his daughter’s boyfriend on the hand.

“He swung the machete at the complainant and slashed his left hand. After that, the suspect fled,” Asst Comm Stanley said, adding that the whole incident was witnessed by the suspect’s daughter.

On Thursday (20th June), the man was arrested when he was at a coffee shop on Jalan Long Bridge.

“He admitted to injuring the complainant and throwing the machete into the river near Lanang Bridge,” Asst Comm Stanley said.

Currently, the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons

If you want to borrow money from someone, make sure you are able to pay them back!
