A 38-year-old man in East Java, Indonesia, has surrendered to the local police after being on the run for stabbing his 43-year-old neighbour multiple times with a sharp object.

The man, whose initial is MAK, was enraged by his neighbour after the latter had called his wife a “gossipmonger”.

According to the Indonesian portal Detik, the suspect was arrested at the Gresik police station on 17 May at around 7.30pm local time after he turned himself in.

However, the local police are waiting for the victim, known as Marjuki, to recover from his injuries to conduct investigations.

This is because the victim is also a suspect, as he also assaulted MAK using a sharp object in retaliation, but the attack missed and hit MAK’s wife, the same individual he called a “gossipmonger”.

Menganti Police Chief AKP Dawud elaborated that on 13 May at around 2pm local time, MAK had entered Marjuki’s house while the latter was resting in the living room.

MAK brought a sharp object with him and attacked Marjuki while he was playing with his smartphone.

After getting stabbed twice, Marjuki fled, but MAK stabbed him again from behind.

As a result of the attack, Marjuki suffered injuries on his left and right arms, as well as on the right side of his stomach.

Marjuki then grabbed a sharp object from his living room and attacked MAK in retaliation. However, MAK managed to avoid the attack, and Marjuki ended up slashing MAK’s wife instead.

Marjuki then went outside his house to call for help, prompting MAK to flee. Several days later, on 17 May, MAK turned himself in to the police.
