A family in the Soppeng Regency of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, caught the attention of the nation recently due to their rather ‘complicated’ relationship history. Get this, a woman’s husband ended up becoming her stepfather due to an affair the man had with her mother!

As reported by the Indonesian portal Detik, a man with the initials “BR” divorced his 21-year-old wife (initials “AL”) after getting his 36-year-old mother-in-law (initials “FR”) pregnant.

The incident took place at Taccampu, Desa Abbanuange in Soppeng Regency and was confirmed by the Desa Abbanuange village head, Buhari, when enquired by Detik.

Buhari revealed that the incident took place in early 2024. Since then, all parties in the family drama have already reconciled, and the mother-in-law turned wife has already given birth.

The Desa Abbanuange village head elaborated,

“That’s right, the son-in-law got his mother-in-law pregnant… He divorced his wife. Both families have reconciled. They have made peace.”

Meanwhile, Soppeng Police Chief Aditya Pradana said that BR had an affair with his mother-in-law, who was a widow after her husband died.

An Indonesian territorial army non-commissioned officer and the Lilirilau Police Station became mediators for the family conflict.

As a result of the mediation, FR and AL’s family agreed that BR would divorce AL and marry her mother FR.
