According to the Thai-based publication Khaosod English, the victim was standing by the road near his home at Ban Ton Teen Ped village, Ban Na subdistrict, Srinakarin district, when he was suddenly hit by the vehicle at approximately 5:40 PM.

Investigators from the Srinakarin Police Station stated that the driver, who was travelling with his family, lost control of the sedan, swerved into the left lane, and fatally struck the victim.

Furthermore, dashcam footage from a vehicle travelling behind the Malaysia-registered sedan showed the car drifting out of its lane before the crash.

The police believe that the Malaysian driver, Ahmadnaim Bin Sazale, had fallen asleep at the wheel, resulting in the fatal accident.  Thai authorities added that the driver was visibly shaken and in shock after the crash.
