According to Setn, the guy, who works in IT, was happily playing on his phone one day when suddenly, his right eye’s vision got blurry and then turned black. He was shocked and afraid that he had gone blind in one eye, so he quickly rushed to the hospital, where it was discovered that he was suffering from central retinal artery occlusion, or more commonly known as an eye stroke.

The doctor explained that the sudden stroke may have been caused by the patient always playing with his phone and his high-fat diet. He would usually go home after a day of facing his work computer and then continued using his phone at home before he sleeps. He was shocked when his right eye felt dry and uncomfortable, so he blinked and his vision suddenly went black.

The doctor immediately started treatment for him and finally, four hours later, he managed to restore the patient’s vision. However, the patient needed to stay in the hospital for observation and for another series of treatments to ensure that he would not suffer from a relapse. He was finally discharged after three days in the hospital.

Luckily, he managed to be at the hospital within 90 minutes, which is the best time for treatment because after that time period, the likelihood of making a good recovery lessens significantly. The doctor said that usually patients who suffered from an eye stroke were in their 60s and 70s but based on recent cases, the stroke patients are getting younger.

When those vessels narrow or get blocked by a blood clot, the blood supply is cut off, which leads to a stroke. This blockage affects the retinal veins where they are blocked and leak fluids into the retina. This causes swelling, which prevents oxygen from circulating and impacts your ability to see. In serious conditions, eye strokes can lead to permanent blindness, macular edema and neovascular glaucoma.

Whoa, sounds scary! Remember to rest your eyes at intervals guys!
