A kid in China fell into the river and drowned. His grandpa, who was supposed to watch him, had his eyes and attention locked on his phone.
He was busy scrolling TikTok.
The kid screamed for help before he drowned but the man said he couldn’t hear the kid’s cry for help. The mother of the deceased child uploaded the surveillance video clip on Douyin (Chinese social media) to share the incident that took place earlier this year with others.
The kid wanted to wash his dirty toy at the river and told his grandpa about it. The volume of the man’s phone was too loud, and he couldn’t hear what his grandson was telling him. The kid turned back to tell him again but to no avail. His grandfather did not respond and continued to look at his phone.
When the man finally looked up, it was already too late. His grandson, who was only 3, had drowned.
Little did he know, his grandson’s last words to him would be “Grandpa, let’s go to the river.”
“I didn’t hear it because I was…”
The mother also said that on the day of the tragic incident, she had to work. The kid’s grandma, on the other hand, had to be at the hospital for a check-up, so the grandfather was “tasked” to look after the kid.
When confronted about the incident, the man blamed it on ” a supernatural occurrence.”
“I couldn’t hear his scream because I was possessed by a ghost,” the grandpa said.
We can only imagine the pain that the family has to go through.
