In the latest update by the Ministry of Health on 19 July, three new Covid-19 clusters have been detected. This is in addition to the four new clusters detected from 16 to 17 July. There seems to be an upward trend recently with two-digit cases being recorded in the last few days.

1. Sepang Rumah Kongsi cluster

Two positive cases have been detected at the Sepang construction site with the index case being an Indonesian worker who infected a Bangladeshi worker.

A total of 96 people have been screened for the virus – including nine Malaysians – with 94 testing negative so far, according to Bernama.

2. Kuala Lumpur restaurant cluster

This cluster was detected at a restaurant located in Brickfields where two Indian nationals tested positive for Covid-19, according to The Star.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that a total of 250 people have been tested including 14 workers and 236 customers. 248 people have tested negative so far.

The virus is still within the community and if we do not adhere to the SOPs set in place, we could be looking at a second wave of infections. Please stay safe out there, everyone!
