3 Individuals Arrested After OUG Parking Tout Assault, PDRM Confirms All Have Criminal Records

Three individuals were arrested on Sunday (16 August) to assist investigations into an alleged illegal parking fee collection operation, including a suspect accused of punching a woman in the head at an empty plot of land next to the OUG Community Hall in Jalan Awan Besar.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said police received a report from a 38-year-old woman at about 2.38 PM regarding the alleged unauthorised collection of parking fees at the site.

Suspects as young as 20, all had criminal records

He said the suspect allegedly verbally abused the woman before punching her in the head and threatening to assault her and cause trouble at her workplace.

“Following the incident, police arrested three suspects aged between 20 and 26. Checks found that all three had previous criminal records,” he said in a statement today.

Fadil said police remanded the first suspect for three days, from August 16 until August 18, while the other two suspects were remanded for one day to assist investigations.

According to Harian Metro, police are investigating the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt. He added that police would remain committed to enforcing the law to safeguard public safety and maintain peace and order.

The arrests followed a video showing a man allegedly running an illegal parking collection scheme in OUG that went viral on social media.

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok previously said the man continued collecting parking fees despite enforcement action already taken by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and other authorities.
