Two polytechnic students in Malacca had to seek treatment at a clinic after both were injured by kite strings while riding their motorcycles.
The duo suffered injuries on the fingers, neck, lips, and palms

Jasin District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohamad Rusli Mat said the incident took place at Jalan Bandar Baru Merlimau Utara on March 21, when both victims were headed home on their respective bikes from a Ramadan Bazar around 6:30 PM.
Following the incident, one of the victims filed a police report at Merlimau Police Station.
Rusli also explained that initial investigations revealed that the incident happened at Kampung Merlimau Utara near Dataran Orang Kampung – a hotspot for kite lovers.

At the time of writing, the police have yet to identify the owner of the kite that was being flown during the incident.
“The public is advised to find open areas that are suitable for recreational activities like flying the kites, and avoid playing near roads, electricity poles or high places.”

The pictures of the injured students went viral on social media recently before PDRM in Malacca issued a statement about the matter.
In case you are not aware, this was not the first time kite strings caused injuries in the country. A police officer nearly lost his life after his neck got caught on a kite string on PLUS highway, and another Malaysian was also injured in a similar manner while riding a motorcycle.
If you’re often travelling in kite-hotspot areas, have you heard of any related injuries?
