A 17-year-old teenager in Indonesia called the police on his own mother after being struck by her.

Malang Police spokesperson, AKP Bambang Subinajar, confirmed the incident and stated that it stemmed from a misunderstanding between the mother and her son, as reported by Detik News.

According to the police, the incident occurred when the teen’s 45-year-old mother asked her son to fold the blanket and tidy his bed. However, the teenager ignored her instructions and continued using his phone.

In a moment of frustration, the mother struck her son with a broom, causing minor bruises on his arm and thigh.

“Both parties reconciled and agreed to resolve the matter”

Following the incident, the mother proceeded to work in the garden, while her son reported the matter to the police via the emergency line.

Officers from Tumpang Police subsequently brought both the mother and son to the local community hall for a counselling session with local officials.

“The police acted as mediators and provided counselling. Ultimately, both parties reconciled and agreed to resolve the matter within the family through a joint statement,” he added.

The police emphasised that family disputes should ideally be addressed through discussion first, with authorities intervening only when necessary.
