Illegal Midnight Race on Guthrie Highway Kills 1 Mat Rempit & Injures 2 Others

An illegal race on the Guthrie Highway took a tragic turn after it took away the life of a Mat Rempit and injured two others.

The Police detected a viral video on social media showing reckless and dangerous riding that caused a fatal accident on February 22.

In an official statement by the Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said the accident happened around 3:27 am and involved three Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycles, which lost control.

He explained, “The accident is believed to have occurred when the first motorcycle collided with the second motorcycle, causing both of them to lose control and crash into the road divider.”

“The first rider was thrown into the middle of the road divider ditch and the second rider fell on the right side of the road shoulder.”

The third motorcycle came from behind and did not have time to avoid the first motorcycle and the second motorcycle skidded, causing the third rider to fall.

The first rider was confirmed dead, while the second rider was placed in the intensive care unit (ICU) and the third rider suffered injuries to his hands and legs.

 

He said any relevant information can be channeled to the Investigating Officer, Inspector Azie Azyanti Mohd Rafae at 013 675631 to assist in the investigation according to Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
