Keningau District Police Chief, Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai, confirmed that the operation ran from 11:30 PM to 3:00 AM. It involved 36 officers from various divisions, including Criminal Investigation, Narcotics, Traffic Enforcement, Crime Prevention, Special Branch, and KDNKA.
He added that further inspections uncovered suspected methamphetamine and beverages believed to contain ketum.
“We found that the event was attended by several teenagers and young adults. Inspections also uncovered suspected methamphetamine and drinks believed to contain ketum,” the statement read.

“The enforcement action was not meant to hinder sporting activities…”
During the operation, 25 summonses were issued for various offences, and 130 individuals, along with 105 vehicles, were inspected.
“One man was detained under Section 12(3) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and further investigations are ongoing. In addition, 10 men were detained under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for failing to provide valid identification documents,” he added.

“Public roads are a shared facility. Any activity that disrupts traffic or endangers other road users is an offence, and strict action will be taken.”
