A new challenge is gaining popularity fast on social media and its called the “One Finger Selfie Challenge”.
Nope, not this one.
Not this one either.
China is known for their bizarre challenges. Remember the collar bone challenge, or ‘slim’ waist challenge?
Well, according to the Daily Dot, the one finger selfie challenge that’s going crazy in China started with a cartoon drawing created by a Japanese anime artist named Sky-freedom. As you can see, the anime character uses 1 finger to censor her breasts and pubic region while taking selfie in front of a mirror. Got nothing better to do eh?

So, does it work? A youtuber named Aimee Davison actually recorded herself attempting this challenge while wearing pants because she curious about whether this trick will work in real-life or not. Don’t worry, it works.

Of course, the key for a successful one finger selfie lies on the position of the finger. You have to make sure your finger is blocking the genital when taking picture. The reflection of your finger in the mirror will automatically cover your breasts, or chest if you are a dude.

And soon enough, Chinese netizens hopped on this challenge and posted their ‘successful’ captures online.
Althoughhh, if you’re a guy, I’m not sure successfully pulling off covering your genitals with one finger is really something to shout about 😉
However, this challenge has been criticized by netizens as a form of body-shaming because it exposes our naked body to the public. Duh…what do you expect from this kind of challenge?
“If you can hide it with 1 finger, then um not interested,” one netizen commented.
“These people really got nothing better to do right?” another wrote.
Another thing to be concerned is that if you are underage, sharing your nude or partially nude pictures could be classified as distributing child pornography. Other parties also concerned that these obscene photos may be used by certain individuals for illegal activities.
