Let’s face it, having your dream wedding comes with a price tag. Everyone has their own idea of what a “dream wedding” should be. While some prefer a small, intimate celebration, others dream of a lavish celebration.

In a recent account shared by @meinmokhtar, an anonymous woman reveals that her younger brother recently got married in a grand wedding.

Go big or go home!

The woman shared how her younger brother (the groom), employed as a lorry driver, married his bride, who serves as a secretary at a police station.

She revealed that the bride and groom hosted a grand wedding, with the groom assuring her that he would handle all arrangements. He booked 3 bungalow homestays to accommodate both sides of the family.

“When he mentioned he’s handling it, I assumed he was paying for it himself. The solemnisation, henna session, and ceremony took place over 4 days at the bungalow houses, with 1k to 1.5k guests invited.”

The big wedding costed RM35K

On the night after the wedding, both families got together to count the angpows they received from guests. Altogether, they collected RM18k.

However, it was later discovered that the groom had handed over all the money to the bride’s family without informing his own.

Expressing their frustration, the woman shared,

“My mother and I were angry with him. 3 of my sisters and I decided to confront the bride’s sister to discuss the matter. We even gave the bride’s sister a piece of our mind because we felt they had no right to take it.”

“He was in charge of the wedding, but it wasn’t him who paid the bill”

The woman went on to share that the groom wasn’t aware of their plan to confront his bride’s sister, as they assumed they deserved the money since they thought he had covered all the expenses.

Later, when the groom’s family confronted him, they learned that neither he nor the bride had paid for the wedding.

It turned out that the bride and groom had only contributed RM7K towards the wedding costs, while the bride’s sister covered the rest.

Apology not accepted!

The woman mentioned that this coming May, it would be the groom’s turn to host their side of the wedding. However, the bride informed the groom and his family that her family would not be attending.

“My father was disappointed in me and my mother for jumping to conclusions. Now my little brother wants to cancel his family’s side of the wedding since the bride’s attempt to get her family to come failed miserably.”

During the confrontation, one of her sisters even made harsh comments to the bride’s sister, saying,

“That’s why people shouldn’t marry someone poor, all of your assets would be claimed by them.”

She expressed remorse for making such comments, as they always knew that the bride’s family didn’t come from wealth. However, they didn’t realise that the bride’s sister was actually a successful woman.

Was it really an honest mistake?

The woman noted that she tried texting the bride’s sister to apologise for the honest mistake, but the bride’s sister responded,

“I shouldn’t have to spend too much of my time and money on people like your family.”

She concluded the post by stating that her mother also felt remorseful, to the extent that she couldn’t stop crying. The groom expressed his displeasure to her and the rest of his family for their treatment of his in-laws.
