The Deputy Prime Minister was replying to a question by Kuala Pilah Member of Parliament (MP) Dato’ Adnan Abu Hassan who wanted to know the Government’s plans to strengthen the halal industry for SMEs, Bumiputera companies, companies in rural areas and young entrepreneurs in line with the target to make Malaysia the leading force in the global Halal industry.

Accordingly, Zahid asserted that to improve the Halal industry in our country, among the matters looked at is the structure of the industry itself, including the Halal certification process, the management of Halal talents, the national Halal policy, the Halal development plan and the Halal marketing plan.

Zahid added that the Government through the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030 has outlined a core strategy focused on encouraging increased participation and competitiveness from Bumiputera-owned companies.

Moreover, the Halal Development Corp has carried out various efforts, including development programmes involving local companies so that Bumiputera companies can venture into the Halal sector.
