Yuna has come ridiculously far in her career as a locally and internationally-renowned musician as she announces the release of the first part of her 2022 releases.
She dropped news of the first part, Y1, which will feature 4 songs (‘Intro’, ‘Hello’, ‘Pantone 17 1330’ and ‘Cigarette’), in a Facebook posting along with stunning visuals of herself in a crystal-covered ensemble.
“I will be dropping 5 separate releases throughout 2022. Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, and finally the last one that ties everything together, Y5”
“I want my fans to be able to take their time and listen – and connect to every single song, before the next one comes. This has always been something I’ve always wanted to do, and this way you guys will feel closer to me and my music,” she shared.
But, sadly, instead of excited anticipation of her new music, it appears that Malaysians are choosing to focus on something else.
Netizens took to her Facebook post to criticise her outfit
“You’re freeing your hair now, Yuna?”
“This kinds of outfits expose your modesty. Why are you becoming like this?”
“Just a little while more and she’ll open (her headscraf) la.”
“She’s becoming sexier…”
Western influence?
Some even insinuated that the choice of attire was contributed by western influence.
“She is staying in New York, right? She didn’t anchor to her religion tightly enough, of course she’ll drift.”
“Pierced nose. Congratulations, Mrs. America.”
“Yuna has been colonised.”
…others believe she joined the Illuminati!
It’s super sad to see how these Malaysians are treating a local icon who has taken to the world stage, especially when we should be focusing on her amazing music!
We genuinely hope that Malaysians grow to be more accepting that we shouldn’t judge the connection others have with their religions based on their clothing.
