A 32-year-old man recently opened up about an incident that pushed him to share his experience as a “reminder for the guys out there.”
He described himself as someone who has his life pretty well put together, with a stable job, a luxury car he bought himself, and a home he’s paying for on his own.

“My boyfriend just goes back to his hostel to play games”
In an anonymous post, John (a pseudonym) shared how he met a college student at a gathering with his friends. He described her as:
“The classic type who seems like she ‘won’t do anything wild’, but still makes you want to test your luck.”
At the end of the night, he casually paid for her meal and even booked her an e-hailing ride home.
“I’m not some super good-looking guy, but I’m clean, tidy, I dress well, and I wear cologne. My life’s simple: work, gym, and the occasional trip overseas. I don’t club, and I’m not messing around on dating apps.”

To his surprise, she later added him on social media and complimented how well he dresses.
“Maybe the age gap makes me seem refreshing to her. We started chatting. She’d say things like, ‘I’m so jealous you can drive home after work,’ and, ‘At least you have Netflix. My boyfriend just goes back to his hostel to play games,’.”
“Slowly I could feel where this was going…”
After exchanging messages with the woman, one day John decided to pick her up from college and treat her to Japanese food and coffee.
“She said her college life was boring, her boyfriend only took her to fast food restaurants, and if she wanted a drink, he would get her some cheap lemon drink,” he added.
But he noticed a change in her expression when she saw his credit card as he went to pay.
“For her birthday, I got her a luxury brand lipstick and perfume. Her eyes lit up, and she said, ‘You actually remembered I said I liked this scent!’ After that, she started sending me selfies every day.”

“Most guys still don’t really understand what women want”
John later added that eventually, everything just fell into place, and the woman began spending weekends at his place.
“She’d even prepare bathwater for me. She said I felt like her ‘safe haven’, and I told her she was like my dessert. Her boyfriend thought she was out doing assignments.”
John said the experience taught him an important lesson:
“I know what this relationship is. She’ll graduate and face her own life eventually. But at the peak of her youth, when she wanted to be loved and cared for, she met me. And the experiences she wants right now, I can give her.”
“Sometimes women don’t care about promises for the future. They want to feel loved, pampered, and safe in the moment. That’s something many young guys, or even some grown men, just can’t provide. It’s not about age, but it’s about the level of life you’re living. And most guys still don’t really understand what women want.”
