Malaysian tourists in Thailand have been called out by a Thai-based Facebook page for stereotypical behaviours that many of us would agree are ‘very Malaysian.’

The page, My Thailand, believed to be run by a Thai travel company, poked fun at Malaysians visiting the Land of Smiles for their tendency to “clear out” convenience store shelves, jokingly dubbing them a “tactical unit.”

Malaysians are getting roasted for raiding Thai convenience stores

In the viral post, the page didn’t hold back in roasting Malaysian tourists, pointing out how they would grab convenience store sandwiches “like they were Michelin-star meals.”

“You didn’t come for the culture. You didn’t come for the temples. You came to raid the convenience store.

“We saw you inside the store. You and your family bought so many bags of chips, it looked like you were preparing for a zombie apocalypse back in Kuala Lumpur. Is there a famine in Malaysia we don’t know about? Why do you need 40 bottles of milk for a two-day trip?” My Thailand wrote.

As if that wasn’t enough, they also took a sarcastic swipe at Malaysians’ driving, joking that they “drive their Alphards in Thailand like they’re auditioning for Fast & Furious.”

“You ignore the lanes, you ignore the speed limits, and you double-park right in front of the restaurant because, apparently, walking more than 10 meters is against your religion,” they added.

“Leave some for the rest of us”

The author also called out Malaysians for their stereotypical comments on Thailand’s tom yam, insisting that “Damansara’s is more authentic.”

“You sit down at a legendary Thai street stall that’s been cooking for 30 years and loudly tell the grandma cooking, ‘Wah, this tom yam is just okay.’ Excuse me? You’re in Thailand. This is the original. Your tom yam back home is a remix.

“Enjoy your weekend shopping spree, but please drive safely, and leave at least one bottle of milk for the rest of us.”
