Toll payment in Malaysia seems to be a topic of discussion by everyone perpetually. Whether it is about the removal of tolls, toll rates, or how only drunk LGBT ghosts use them at night, there always seems to be an issue that pops up almost every quarter of the year.

Now, PLUS Malaysia Bhd has released a statement informing everyone that by the end of 2019, PLUS Highway users can pay tolls with their credit and debit card.

As reported by Berita Harian, PLUS is now working on upgrading its infrastructure, especially toll booths so that more modes of payment can be offered to road users.

After the upgrade, PLUS Highway users will not have to go to kiosks or counters to reload their TNG cards anymore and will never have to worry about having an insufficient balance in their card.

PLUS director, Datuk Azman Ismail, told Berita Harian that users could link their credit card, debit card or any e-wallet to their Radio-frequency identification (RFID). He further mentioned that users would also be able to make their payment with their TNG eWallet. He continued,

“One reason for the congestion at toll plazas is the way the payment at the toll is made, whether it is through the TNG card or SmartTAG. When there is insufficient balance, then road users cannot pass through.”

He explained that this is the often the fault of the user themselves as they usually forget to reload their cards. So to reduce this problem, they will work towards adding more payment methods.

As of now, highway users, especially for open toll systems in Klang Valley, can already pay tolls with the Touch ‘n Go eWallet. All they have to do is link their current TNG card into the eWallet to activate PayDirect. So, all they need is to reload their eWallets. No more queueing up!
