Do you guys remember how there were a bunch of people getting arrested for hanging our national flag, the Jalur Gemilang, upside down? Well, to prevent any confusions this Merdeka season, there is now a guideline on what kind of Jalur Gemilangs you can and cannot hang!
Berita RTM took to their Twitter page to showcase the guideline on the use of the Jalur Gemilang.
They wrote, “Malaysia MADANI : Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan (Malaysia MADANI: The Determination of Unity Fulfills Hope).”
This guideline is basically for a large quantity of flags on a flagline.
While flags can be connected in a horizontal position on a flagline, you cannot connect the Jalur Gemilangs in a vertical position and if the flags are triangle-shaped.
In an older post re-shared by the JAPEN BUKIT BINTANG / SEPUTEH / PUTRAJAYA Twitter page, you can also learn the correct way and position to hang the Jalur Gemilang.
“Every citizen has the right to fly the Jalur Gemilang provided that they followed the prescribed instructions or guidelines. The Jalur Gemilang must be flown in an orderly manner as a symbol of the greatness and sovereignty of the country both while raising and lowering it,” the guidelines states.
Hence, it is best to follow the directions provided in order to not get into trouble this Merdeka season!
