Who doesn’t love a good packet of Indomie after a long, exhausting day? Whether you’re at the Mamak or your home, the simplicity of this noodle is what makes it so lovable.

Now, in 2020, we’ve seen quite a number of peculiar ice-cream flavours like boba, petai, nasi lemak and the latest to join the list is Indomie Goreng Flavour!

Yes, Holi Ice Cream, an West Jakarta based creamery has designed the first Indomie Goreng flavoured Ice Cream in Indonesia complete with bawang goreng or fried shallots garnish.

At first glance, doesn’t it look like a container of face cream that you would use?

The owner of Holi Ice Cream, Stephen, told Coconuts Jakarta that he was inspired to create the flavour due to his love of Indomie and his habit of eating his own ice cream for dessert.

“There was one time after having Indomie goreng when I thought that it would be pretty cool to have Indomie goreng-flavored ice cream for dessert.”

This curiosity led to him doing experiments and thus the sweet-savoury ice cream was born which he ended up liking. Funnily, when he gave his friends the ice cream without revealing the flavour, even they liked it!

“It got me thinking that rather than keeping the good taste of my own Indomie-flavored ice cream for myself, I should share it with other people too, especially since Indomie Goreng is everyone’s favourite food,” he said.

The product was launched in Indonesia on August 1o and the reviews are not out yet. We guess it will be some time before the flavour reaches Malaysia. However, worry not, you can expect a review from us when it’s released.

What do you think about this new flavour? Is this simply another sign of 2020 being wack? Let us know in the comments sections!
